A visit to Nice’s museums

There are many different reasons why we go to the museum: we want to improve our general knowledge or to be inspired by the creativity of artists. As self-employed workers and creators, we all need the new inspirations that culture can give us. At Labo Coworking, we are also convinced that we must always have creative impulses, ideas to innovate our work: a visit to the museum is the opportunity to find them.

Indeed, spending a few hours in a museum is enough to connect with a culture, one or more art forms, or even with an entire city. When we visit the museums of Nice, for example, we immediately find ourselves immersed in the world of the city with its culture, its landscapes and the sea, from which many artists have been inspired over the centuries. Here, going to a museum means discovering the history of Nice, as in the splendid villa of the Musée Masséna on the Promenade des Anglais and three steps from the Labo Coworking. You can walk through its wonderful gardens, visit the villa’s historical rooms or see the temporary exhibitions.

If you are passionate about art, I recommend the famous Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MAMAC), which is located in the city center (400 meters from the Lab) and contains works from the late 1950s to today. Pop art, Avant-gardes, Arte povera, the collection is always in motion and in dialogue with the present. Also, the Marc Chagall Museum is a place to enrich yourself with art: entirely dedicated to the artist, it is the largest public collection of works by Marc Chagall and he himself contributed to its conception in 1973.

A visit to a museum can also be an ideal team building activity: you can organize an outing with your colleagues to strengthen the bonds between them and improve the cohesion of the work group. In this case, you will just have to choose the museum that is closest to your interests, not necessarily artistic. Why not the National Sports Museum, where you can discover the history of physical and sports practices, as well as the technical evolution of equipment and materials from the 16th century to the present.

Finally, you may want to have an experience that goes beyond the ordinary, for a moment of relaxation after a period of high stress at the office. Then I suggest you visit the Asian Arts Museum, near Nice airport: a collection of visual and performing arts from the main civilizations of Southeast Asia, India, Japan and China. Also, to further discover the Asian culture, you can experience the tea ceremony.

Cultural activities can therefore be very useful to get new creative impulses, construction and integration of the work group, or simply to escape from the daily life. As J.M.G. Le Clézio said: “The function of a museum should not be to show us things, but to make us see through them”.
I wish you a nice visit to Nissa la Bella!
